Special listing for Thursday and the weekend

I said that last week's listing would be the last for several weeks.  However there are four events which share two of my passions that I'd like to recommend to you:

Thursday, April 24
Concert: Take Five: An Evening with Ella - Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with this tribute to Fitzgerald and her work with Ellington and Basie - Smithsonian American Art Museum - 8th and F NW - 5 - 7pm

Panel Discussion:  Jazz Diplomacy: Sending America's Music to the World - John Edward Hasse leads discussion in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Newport Jazz Festival - National Archives - 7pm

Friday, April 25
Film: A Great Day in Harlem - 1994 documentary brings to life the moment when dozens of America's jazz legends unexpectedly gathered for an emblematic photograph of the golden age of jazz - 60 minute film - National Archives - Noon

Saturday, April 26
Tour: Annual Spring Garden Tour of the South Lawn of the White House - a "not to be missed " opportunity to stoll the White House gardens - Entry from 10 AM - 4:30PM with tickets distributed at the Pavilion on the Ellipse at 15th and E streets at 9AM.  (My personal previous experience has been that one can usually get entry the last two hours of the tour by just getting in line)

Sunday, April 27
Tour:  Annual Spring Garden Tour of he South Lawn of the White House - repeats above with tours from 10AM - 2:30PM
